also known as Bob Brown
My name is Bob Brown. I began practicing law in the Commonwealth of Massachusetts in the Probate and Family Court in 1995. I am proud to say that our office has helped many families, adults, children and elders with a variety of legal problems that required Court intervention. We assist individuals and families with legal issues that involve divorce, non-wed partners, custody, support, property division of property, and advocate for the impaired, disabled and abused persons in our community to find relief, justice and solutions under the law.
I began my career practicing law in the Probate and Family Courts of Massachusetts after I finished my second year of law school in 1994. I was certified to practice as a student lawyer pursuant S.J.C. Rule 3:07 as an intern for Legal Service for Cape Cod and Islands, Inc. My practice of the law concentrates on Probate and Family Court. I started as Legal Services Attorney and transitioned my career into a private practice for the last thirteen years on Cape Cod and Martha’s Vineyard. I handle all aspects of the law called domestic relations, matrimonial law, equity, guardianship, conservatorship, estates, trust and fiduciary law within the Court system.
I enjoy helping others in the Probate and Family Court. I understand that clients find family legal issues to be overwhelming, emotional and even embarrassing. Our office understands the emotions involved whether it involves family estate issues, divorce, custody, support or what to do with the parent or family member suffering from dementia or an age related crisis. Our office has probably handled almost every case imaginable in the Probate and Family Court, and if we have not, we will tell you we don’t know. If we have not handled the matter before, we will find out how to solve your problem and perform well.
As a domestic relation attorney, I have filed, settled, defended and litigated to trial end divorce, paternity, custody, child support, alimony, visitation complaints, contempt actions, modifications, termination of parental rights, adoptions and guardianships of minors and elders, petitions to partition, will contests, trust litigation and contested probate estates. We professional prepare, organize and utilize technology in our cases to be successful in a manner that is cost effective for our client. Our clients always have document copies in “pdf” or paper format for their review and in their possession quickly upon drafting or upon receipt to our office. We have a twenty four hour answering service for emergency calls to meet client needs.
There have been many recent changes in law and rules in the Probate and Family Court. Our office has studied the new laws and rules and attended many hours and days of seminars to continue our education to be good lawyers and advocates for our clients.
The following changes in law and rules recently occurred; Alimony Reform Act of 2011 – implemented in 2012, Child Support Guidelines (2013), Massachusetts Uniform Probate Code (2010 to 2012), Massachusetts Uniform Trust Code and many changes to the Probate and Family Court Procedure and Rules of Court.

Robert Brown represented me in my divorce. He was extremely knowledgable and I really felt as though he was always working in my best interest. He always gave recommendations but never did anything I wasn't comfortable with. Attorney Brown helped to get me through an extremely difficult situation....
