Marc Jay Cooper

Marc J. Cooper brings a long and successful history in the practice of Family Law. He began his legal career in 1982 at McClellan and Zack. He then joined the firm of Bowser and Lee in 1987, which ultimately became Lee and Levine LLP, and remained with them as an associate for 11 years and as a partner for 13 years. He became a partner at Kates & Barlow in January of 2011, and has recently joined the firm of Fields and Dennis LLP as a partner on March 9, 2015. Since his admission to the Massachusetts Bar in 1982, Marc has practiced extensively and exclusively in all areas of Family Law. His practice has focused on issues related to the negotiation, mediation, arbitration and litigation of divorce and divorce related matters including, but not limited to: premarital agreements; paternity; support; complex property issues/valuations and forensic investigations; child custody and parenting plans; postjudgment and appellate practice; and other family law matters. Marc also performs case evaluations of all family law matters for both attorneys and parties. Marc has been widely recognized for his professional expertise, both locally and nationally. He has been listed in Best Lawyers in America since 2013. He has been awarded the "AV Preeminent" rating by Lexis/Nexis Martingale Hubbel in recognition of legal ability and ethical standards, which is the highest possible Peer Review rating granted. He has been a fellow in the AAML since 1995, has held every office in the Massachusetts Chapter including the office of President from 2011 to 2013, and has been involved at the National level as well. Marc is also a Founding Member in the American Association of Certified Financial Litigators, an AAML Certified Family Law Arbitrator, and a member of various other legal organizations. Marc is committed to the use of alternative dispute resolution processes in furthering the interests of his clients and their children, and he is committed to treating the interests of children as a priority in every way. He was appointed to the Governor's Workshop for Child Related Legislation in 2012.
