  1. Divorce and separation
    75%
I help many families to obtain a Divorce. I accept all types of cases: Contested & Uncontested; Collaborative divorce cases (no litigation or court involvement); Mediated settlements. I work with my clients from pre-trial hearings through trial, and also bring Modification cases down the road when there has been a change of circumstances forcing the parties back to court. Issues i assist my clients with include: Custody & Visitation, Child Support, Alimony, & Settlement Agreements.

  2. Child custody
    15%
I help mothers, fathers, and grand parents who need help with child custody arrangements. Often, we can agree upon a parenting plan with the opposing side; when we cannot, I work with my client to achieve the best results for their child(ten) through trial and beyond.

    29 years, 100 cases

  3. Child support
    5%
I help mothers and fathers who need to obtain and modify their child support. I also help with modifications when child support needs to be increased or decreased due to a change of circumstances. Often, we can accomplish this by Agreement of the parties. When we cannot agree, I litigate the case at trial.

    29 years, 100 cases

  4. Criminal defense
    5%
I have represented hundreds, or perhaps even thousands, of clients with their criminal cases. I have conducted many trials through the years (from jury to bench trials), as well as innumerable pretrial hearings (such as Motions to Suppress, Motions to Dismiss, and Motions to Exclude Evidence, for example). I also work on my clients' behalf to obtain the best possible disposition for those who wish to resolve their cases without a trial. I also help clients to seal their records in MA.

    29 years, 100 cases

My passion to help people less fortunate than myself initially led me to law school.  Upon graduating from Penn, I went to work for the Legal Aid Society in Brooklyn, New York in the Criminal Defense Division.  I worked there for a number of years, until my husband's job required us to move.  I continued to work as a public defender for many years, in many states, and helped an innumerable number of clients with their criminal and family law cases.  Ultimately, when i had my second child, I left public interest law, and went into private practice.  I have been in private practice since 2002, and i continue to take on pro bono cases so that i can help those less fortunate.

When i am not practicing law, you can find me volunteering in my children's elementary, middle and high school, on the tennis court, or out running the streets of Newton and Boston.

Great & Hardworking Attorney Who'll Give You Great Representation
I've known Victoria Spetter for over 20 years. During that time I never had a need for an attorney. But, earlier this year I was dealing with a domestic issue that I needed help with. I contacted Victoria and she helped provide me with the tools and support I needed to prepare for my case. I was grateful to have her on my side and it helped me a lot when I appeared in court. I find her to be honest, knowledgeable and thorough. In addition, she has an approachable quality that made the very stressful situation I was dealing with much easier to handle. My case was resolved and I've been able to resume my life with this situation behind me. I would highly recommend Victoria to anyone who's looking for a kind, compassionate, hard working, knowledgeable and intelligent attorney.

An excellent family/divorce law attorney
I already had a divorce lawyer, but wanted a second opinion regarding the intricacies of some points that needed clarification. Victoria is extremely sharp, and gave clear, succinct answers to all the questions I had. I just wish I had met Victoria earlier, so that she could have handled my case to begin with.

Great attorney; very satisfied with her legal help.
Victoria did a great job. She explained my rights, and the law, in plain language I could understand. She kept me up-to-date on my case via e-mail. She helped me get a great settlement and avoid the expense of a trial. I would recommend her to my friends and family.

"I endorse this attorney. Victoria Spetter is a trusted colleague, and I value very highly my professional relationship with her. When I refer clients to her, I have confidence that they are in the hands of a strong advocate and thoughtful advisor, and that she will guide them in choosing a process, and ultimately a resolution, that best suits their particular situation. Attorney Spetter and I have even had a few clients in common, helping them with different aspects of the legal issues they are dealing with. From clients who have worked with her, I have heard nothing but praise. I respect her opinions and ideas, and often reach out to her for feedback and perspective. Attorney Spetter is active in the local legal and professional communities and bar associations, regularly attends professional development meetings, and serves as a mentor to less experienced attorneys."
