After you file for a AP, you can walk in and have the CIS stamp the approval on your passport for emergency travel.

Lots of reasons- most importantly, the position may not require a Masters, even though you have one. One way to know this if the salary is lower...

Check the processing times on the USCIS website. If it has been pending 30 days beyond that date, you can call the cis and request status.
