Thomas Anthony Dougherty

Attorney Dougherty has been actively practicing law since 1995. He obtained his Bachelor of Arts degree in English in 2001 Cum Laude from the University of Connecticut and his Juris Doctorate from the New England School of Law in 1994 after Honorably Serving in the United States Navy from 1983-1987.

As a trial lawyer he has extensive trial experience in the Housing Courts, District Courts, Probate and Family Courts and Superior Courts from Cape Cod to the Berkshires and from Fall River to Salem over the last twenty-eight years.

He has successfully defended criminal cases in multiple District and Superior Courts. He has extensive Civil experience as well prosecuting multiple Personal Injury cases in the District and Superior Courts resulting in hundreds of thousands of dollars in benefits for his clients. He has successfully prosecuted civil cases in Federal Courts against the Police on behalf of clients which had their civil rights violated.

He has successfully briefed and argued multiple criminal and civil appeals in the Massachusetts Court of Appeals and has the rare distinction of appearing before the Supreme Judicial Court on behalf of a client and successfully arguing his case there which ultimately resulted in a remand of the case and a dismissal of the very serious potentially life altering charges.
