Thomas M Looney

During more than 25 years of practice, I have resolved thousands of problems involving real estate, including defective titles. I resolve most problems through negotiation, mediation and litigation. I have extensive trial and appellate experience in the state and federal courts in the Commonwealth of Massachusetts. I have represented numerous property owners and lenders in title-related litigation in the Massachusetts Land Court, various Superior Courts, the Appeals Court, and the Supreme Judicial Court.

I have served as an expert witness at a trial in the Barnstable Superior Court. The Court accepted and relied upon my opinions concerning the handling of title curative efforts by a national title insurer.

I received a Bachelor of Arts degree from Harvard University in 1983. I received my J.D. degree, cum laude, from Boston College Law School in 1989. I was admitted to practice in Massachusetts in 1989 and to the United States Supreme Court in 2003. After graduating from law school, I served as law clerk to the Honorable R. Ammi Cutter at the Massachusetts Appeals Court.

I live in Westwood, Massachusetts with my wife Nancy. We are both active in the community and have served on the boards of the Dedham-Westwood Water District, Westwood Finance and Warrant Commission, and the Westwood Land Trust.
