Dr. 'Mike' Morecy Should Be Your First Call For All Your IP/Transactional Needs!

As co-founder of an early-stage proteomics company, I have had the privilege of working closely with Dr. Morency on a variety of intellectual property and transactional matters critical to the success and growth of our biotechnology startup. From the outset, Dr. Morency distinguished himself throu...gh his deep scientific expertise, combined with an exceptional understanding of complex legal frameworks. His unique background in both medical sciences and law gives him the rare ability to translate highly technical innovations into strong, defensible intellectual property assets. In my company’s case, he not only guided us in building a cost-effective and strategically sound IP portfolio but also ensured that our innovations were positioned to withstand rigorous due diligence by potential partners and investors. What sets Dr. Morency apart is his business-minded approach to intellectual property. He understands that, for both established and emerging life sciences companies, IP is not just about protection, but also about creating leverage for financing, partnering, and commercialization, ultimately providing for long-term stability and growth. His skill in structuring, negotiating, and executing licensing agreements and collaborative transactions has been invaluable to our progress. Moreover, his responsiveness, attention to detail, and ability to anticipate challenges have given me great confidence in every decision we’ve made together, including addressing future directions. Beyond his professional acumen, Dr. Morency is an absolute pleasure to work with. He brings clarity to complex issues, is generous with his time, and demonstrates genuine commitment to the success of his clients. His uniquely coupled training and experience in science (Ph.D.) and law, enable him to communicate equally effectively with both researchers and management, ensuring all are comfortable and fully informed about the necessary processes for their specific circumstances. I am extremely pleased with his services and thus wholeheartedly recommend him to any organization seeking a trusted, strategic partner for their intellectual property and transactional needs.

Creative and necessary part of the team, not just outside counsel

I have worked with Mike as my IP and transactional attorney in several life science companies for more than 15 years, from startups to publicly traded companies. From our initial meeting, I got the sense that Mike had a very personal approach to working with his clients and was not looking at simply ...obtaining another client from whom he could extract business. Given his tremendous experience and extensive technical background, he not only understands complex technologies, but he is also able to think outside of the box and always comes up with creative solutions. In addition to his skills in intellectual property, Mike also has an extensive understanding of the commercialization of life science technologies, and he excels at harmonizing a company's intellectual property assets with its business objectives. I will definitely continue to use Mike for all of my IP related needs, and I recommend others to consider him as well.
