Janice C. Nigro

As a practicing Attorney for 34 years, Attorney Janice Nigro has established a diverse civil practice, concentrating her practice in estates, from the planning phases of drafting wills and trusts, to the administration of an estate or trust following the death of a loved one, as well as assisting clients when problems arise such as challenges to the will or complaints regarding the handling and distribution of the estate or trust. 

Known both for her deep legal knowledge and willingness to share her expertise and time, she is a leader in the legal community.  She was  selected as a 2012 Top Women of Law honoree by Massachusetts Lawyer’s Weekly, and was honored as one of 50 women who have made “great professional strides and demonstrated outstanding accomplishments in private practice, the corporate arena and social advocacy.”  As the past Chair of the Massachusetts Bar Association’s Probate Council, Attorney Nigro was a member of a unified team of practitioners, clerks and judges to facilitate the implementation of new probate laws know as the Massachusetts Uniform Probate Code, which has significant impact on how people plan their estates, as well as the administration and distribution of an estate. Highly regarded by members of the court staff and her peers, Attorney Nigro has developed and served as faculty for many seminars on the new probate laws as well as other topics.  She was honored by the Massachusetts Bar Association for her volunteer efforts to educate fellow bar members and greater legal community on the changes in probate laws. She has been recognized as a Super Lawyer for the years 2012--to current. She is Co-Chair of the MBA Annual Probate Law Conference which brings over 500 Probate Judges and Attorneys together to confer on recent changes in the law and timely probate topics.
