The following is a letter(e-mail) we sent. Never received a reply until I contacted another lawyer to take over the case-She stated she was a friend of John's and could not take the case. 15 minutes later John called and said he had been sick and would come up with a couple of senarios for us. Nev...er heard from him again. Dear John, I remember the day Dave and I sat with you for our initial consultation. You seemed confident and assured us that you could process our case. We felt so relieved that we were in good hands as this was a new experience for us. We had high hopes that we had chosen a professional lawyer who possessed integrity, and valued his word, his clients and his reputation. Obviously we failed miserably. Now our quandary is how do we solve this problem. We have always paid you as soon as you billed us and have spent $8500 for minor progress over four years. It’s quite unbelievable!!! It has become apparent that you lack the skills necessary to follow up responses, or lack of responses, in a timely manner. In four years you have not secured the necessary legal documents from the physicians, banks, or the stocks. We tried being patient, understanding and decent human beings, In return, we have been neglected, lied to, and pushed to the bottom of the pile over and over. You have not responded to our messages or returned our phone calls over the last few months. The right move for you to make would be to return our fees, minus any actual expenses necessary to pay the court system. We are not wealthy and can not afford to pay another lawyer to start this process again. We need our fees refunded so we are able to hire a competent lawyer. I’m sorry to say that, but you must admit that you have not proven competence to David and I. We need to move this to completion. I am worn out with pleading and begging to have our case resolved. So, what’s the next step John? Wishing we had positive comments to share.
