I hired the Foley & MacArdie firm after my now former wife surprised me, last spring, with her intention to file for divorce. The other surprise (without belaboring the unfortunate details) was that she hired a firm whose principal surreptitiously assigned a terrible, amoral lawyer to handle her case... without my former wife's knowledge or consent. It turns out that said opposing lawyer has a 1-star AVVO review, consistently horrific AVVO reviews by her former clients, and had been disciplined on multiple occasions by state licensing authorities. Once my former wife found out about this surreptitious reassignment, she demanded that her case be reassigned to another attorney. I have used Kathleen Ann Foley's law firm since 2012. Going through a divorce is a difficult situation in itself, add a child and custody issues in, and it's almost an impossible situation. Kathleen handled my separation and divorce back in th early 90s. I found her and the office to be both caring and professional. Her guidance and direction helped me throughout the years in dealing with custody/financial issues with my ex. Most of the time our dealings were long distance but Kathleen... always was available for me and made me feel I was a priority.

On our first meeting we explained to her what we were looking for the courts to do, she laughed at the defendant saying this was an easy case "he's a loser". She then quoted us a price of $2,500.00 to represent us. We explained to Foley we were on a limited budget and she reassured us she could compl...ete the case for the retainer fee. Two weeks before our court date we were told another retainer fee was due. I called Foley to ask her what happened. After two days she called me back. Foley told me that I had to understand I was asking for the courts to do several things, I agreed but told her that we haven’t asked for anything more then what requested in our first meeting, Foley had no response to this. After going to court all the motions that Foley laughed at were taken off the table because the courts wouldn’t hear them. The cost of this case went from $2,500.00 to almost $7,000.00 with the defendant being able to go back to court in six months to regain custody of the minor child. Horrible law firm.
