Nicholas J. Plante

Nicholas J. Plante is a founding partner of Higgins and Plante, P.C., who represents clients across the Commonwealth of Massachusetts in probate and family law. He earned his B.A. from Worcester State College (2002) and his J.D. from Western New England University School of Law (2005), where he won multiple Best Oralist awards and competed nationally in Environmental Moot Court. Nick handles prenuptial and postnuptial agreements, divorce, child custody, modification, contempt actions, contested partitions, equity matters, and estate probate—most notably representing the estate of Academy Award–winning actress Julie Harris. He leads the firm’s appellate practice, routinely appearing before the Massachusetts Appeals Court and Supreme Judicial Court in published matters. Frequently appointed by Probate and Family Court justices, Nick serves as Guardian ad Litem, Attorney Representing the Child, parent coordinator, special master, and arbitrator. A faculty member for Massachusetts Bar Association CLE programs and the Legal Assistance Corp’s divorce skills program (for which he co-authored the handbook), he is active in the Massachusetts and Worcester Bar Associations. A Worcester native, Nick is married with two children and enjoys reading, travel, museums, and cooking.
