  • In The Interest of B.H.H., A Child

    Practice Area:
    Family
    Outcome:
    Temporary Orders Reached
    Description:
My client came to me in a difficult situation. She had a very young child, just a few months old, and was forced to care and pay for the child alone, as the child's father was not offering assitance. After our first court date, not only did the father begin taking an active role in his child's life, I was able to get my client compensation for child support and monthly insurance premiums as well as half of all uninsured health care costs. I am happy to report that my client has been extremely satisfied since obtaining our temporary orders. Currently, I am working on getting my client reimbursed for the child support and medical costs that were not paid to her during the first few month's of her child's life (the time period before she hired me). Once an agreement is reached, we will finalize the custody case.
  • In the Matter of the Marriage of C.A.M. v. T.C. and In The Interest of C.A.C.

    Practice Area:
    Family
    Date:
    Oct 06, 2009
    Outcome:
    Finalized
    Description:
My client came to me in a state of panic after being served with his wife's divorce petition. In the petition, there was an Application for a Protective Order which stated that my client was abusive and hostile towards his wife and thus was trying to restrict my client's civil liberties. Also in the petition, my client's wife was asking the court to award her sole custody of their child. Needless to say, my client was quite upset at the allegations and requests made in his wife's divorce petition. Eventually, I was able to calm down my client, obtain the true facts and fight for my client. My client was awarded joint custody and has regular and frequent contact with his daughter. Most importantly, the child of this suit still has both her parents in her life.
  • In The Matter Of The Marriage of D.N. and A.N. and In The Interest of D.N. and J.N.

    Practice Area:
    Divorce & Separation
    Date:
    Nov 18, 2010
    Outcome:
    Settled
    Description:
At the beginning of this case, both parties were very angry and unwilling to attempt to settle the matter without a trial. The parties had two small children that were suffering because of the disdain these parties had for one another. Luckily, I was able to get my client to understand that fighting his ex in court just because he wanted to "win" was not the best option. Eventually, both parties started to understand that their children were going to keep suffering if they couldn't let go of the past and start focusing on the future. Once they made this realization, I was able to facilitate a settlement of all their issues.

My client married a great guy who was more than happy to be a father to B.E.T. The court to terminated the parental rights of the biological father and granted the adoption. • In the Matter of the Marriage of JS and KS, and In the Interest of Children

    Practice Area:
    Divorce & Separation
    Date:
    May 01, 2013
    Outcome:
Bench trial - ruling in favor of my client (she ended up with the marital property, primary possession of the children, child support and spousal support)
    Description:
I represented the wife, and mother, in this divorce. The husband made very serious allegations against my client's mental health and ability to parent their children despite the fact that she never once threatened to harm her children. In fact, my client had raised their children throughout the entire marriage while the husband traveled for work. At the time the husband filed for divorce, my client was in need of medical help due to her depression caused by her husband's continual absence from the home. However, instead of trying to help the mother of his children get well, the husband had her forcefully removed from the marital home, cut off her access to the children and left her with almost no money to support herself (she was unemployed for over a decade as she stayed home to care for the kids). We found out later that the main reason the husband didn't try to help his wife get better is that he was preoccupied spending time and money on his girlfriend. It took well over a year, numerous experts, countless hearings and a multi-day trial, but in the end, my client got what she wanted, and more importantly, what she deserved.
