Todd Alan Onore

I don’t mean to sound so sure, but Todd Onore is the reason I’m writing this review from my family’s home instead of a prison cell. I had been on the run for nearly a decade, facing serious charges in two counties. By the time I finally faced them, I was on a second violation of probation, with absc...onding stacked on top and new serious charges that violated my case. Prison wasn’t the risk. It was the floor. Every inmate I met and every version of the “natural outcome” agreed. Somehow, Todd got me time-served, reinstatement to probation, and all fees waived. And not just any probation, but administrative probation: no requirement to report, no supervision, and the ability to travel anywhere in the world. It’s such an uncommon outcome that even my own probation officer didn’t know I didn’t have to report in. I’m naturally skeptical of private attorneys. But my father always said, “Don’t tell me what you believe. Show me how you treat people, and I’ll tell you what you believe.” That was the compass we used when we set out to retain someone. We had time and resources. Not unlimited, but enough to choose almost any attorney in our price range, and plenty charge far more than Todd does. What we figured out is that the number on the retainer isn’t what wins cases. What wins is communication, diligence, and hunger. Plenty of experienced attorneys are comfortable. Todd is hungry. You can message him at any hour and he answers. He communicated just as well with my fiancee throughout everything, answering every one of her questions right away. That mattered more than I can put into words. I’ll admit I was an entitled and purposely difficult client. I needed a lot of reassurance. I needed an attorney who saw me as more than a retainer fee. Todd checks every box. He is direct, and he won’t take it personally if you push back. In the courtroom he walks slowly and deliberately, orchestrating every detail: the docket call, the pressure on the prosecutor, the rhythm of the room. He isn’t just arguing legal facts. He’s playing to win. When Todd represents you in court, it feels like he becomes the main character and takes that pressure off of you. Another benefit, especially if you’re being held in custody, is that he moves fast. When you’re sitting in jail, every day is pressure on you, not on the State. Todd scheduled three court dates for me within fifteen days. Most inmates would be lucky to get three in sixty. He is also not afraid to put real pressure on the State. A lot of defense attorneys came up as former prosecutors, and some still extend a professional courtesy to the State that comes at the client’s expense. Todd doesn’t do that. He chooses your best interest, every time. I’ll never forget the prosecutor at my VOP hearing. She looked completely comfortable arguing her case. My violation was, on paper, a slam dunk for the State. Then Todd delivered his closing. When the sentence came down, her face turned absolutely furious. I will remember that moment for the rest of my life. The relationship didn’t end when I walked out of jail. When my probation officer was misinformed and threatened to violate me over a reporting requirement that didn’t apply, Todd, mid-flight and out of state, offered to jump on a Zoom call with the judge to clear it up. The judge had already finished his docket, so Todd reached out directly to the judicial assistant to get it resolved. That is not the standard I’ve experienced from paid attorneys before. I can’t thank Todd enough. I wouldn’t be writing this without him. He turned what was almost certainly a prison sentence into me being back home with my family. If you’re in an absolutely devastating situation, please don’t give up. There is always a “best possible move” left to make. Don’t say a word to the police, and give Todd a call. Thank you, Todd.
