    • I recommend Jack Micheau.
    • I hired Jack 1-3 years ago.
    • Jack handled my Divorce / Separation matter.
    • I have previously worked with 3-5 lawyers.

I have worked in the courthouse, so have observed a number of attorneys in action. None seemed more knowledgable or professional. My family has had its share of legal issues--divorces, DUIs, probates--so we have had occasion to use a few other attorneys. Jack has been by far the best, and my entire family will always be calling him first should any future need arise.

Customer service was outstanding--when Jack was tied up in court, his staff would always get an answer and call right back. Compared to other attorneys we have used--and not been real satisfied with--our cases were handled very efficiently, expertly, and successfully.

I filed for custody of my grandchild on two separate occasions over the past 11 years. Mr. Micheau always was able to get the best results for me and my granchild. He was kind, interested, readily available to answer my questions, and knew his job when we got to court. I have nothing buy high esteem for his services.

This attorney spent well over 4 months padding his bill w/o even setting up a trial date...do NOT trust him with your custody issues, unless you want to wait over 4 months (and four grand out of pocket) before even seeing your minor child.

      Lawyer Comment:

"Wendy" (not her real name) is easily identifiable as she is the only client to raise these complaints. She grossly misrepresents facts.

"Wendy's" case was actually a grandparent custody matter. She was the maternal grandmother who was aware that another party had been granted a final custody order of the grandchild several months prior to her first contacting our office. That custody order allowed no contact outside the presence of the custodian between the grandchild and "Wendy's" daughter. "Wendy" was allowed visits until she took the grandchild into the jail to see her daughter, then was surprised and upset when the custodian refused to allowed "Wendy" further opportunity.

We prepared, filed, and served a competing grandparent custody petition on her behalf. This was no easy task, and took several weeks to complete, because "Wendy's" daughter withdrew her initial support of the petition, and the two alleged fathers could not be located. Eventually, all necessary parties were served, and the petition survived an adequate cause hearing.

Once all parties were finally served, our motion for visitation had to be renoted with proper notice to all parties. A GAL was then appointed to investigate the visitation request. The custodian then hired counsel, who requested first one week, then another week, to get up to speed. Such continuances are routinely granted in our county. It was at this point that "Wendy" terminated services. This was exactly 3 months and one week after she first came to the office for her initial appointment. We could not have even requested a trial date until that point, as the necessary time had not elapsed after service on the fathers, neither of which had even been DNA tested by the state as yet.

"Wendy" was in constant contact with our office. She was always present whenever there was any sort of court date set. To imply she was not kept informed is simply a lie. She also sent lengthy emails and written statements frequently, which she apparently believed the attorney needed to read and respond to, but not bill her for.

What this review demonstrates is the propensity of some people to blame anyone but themselves for the predicaments they find themselves in. It also demonstrates the willingness of AVVO to ignore attorney objections to fraudulent reviews.

      Lawyer Comment:

I do not shy away from taking cases involving high-conflict personalities--both as my client, and when the opposing party. Such personalities often fail to recognize that they might find themselves on the short end of the stick due to their own actions. When everything does not go according to their expectations, it's always someone else's 'fault.' I know who this commenter is, and acknowledge she was, in fact, my client. None of her factual representations bear even a remote resemblance to what actually occurred, other than she did not immediately get what she wanted. It is unfortunate that AVVO does not require any proof supporting the posting of such slanderous reviews. JM
