About Me

Lisa Ellis brings value to clients by providing individualized service and fourteen years of experience.  Her Seattle-based immigration practice, Ellis Immigration Law, LLC emphasizes business, family, naturalization and global migration work including H-1B, L-1, PERM, Students/Schools, I-9 Compliance and petitions for family members, and religious workers. Lisa speaks regularly on immigration topics nationally and regionally.  She was the immigration attorney of a full-service law firm in Seattle for nearly nine years prior to founding Ellis Immigration Law.

Lisa has been selected as a Rising Star by Washington Super Lawyers and is currently appointed to the Board of Publications for the National American Immigration Lawyers Association (AILA).  Her book,  "Visa Solutions for International Students, Scholars, and Sponsors: What You Need to Know" was published in 2012 by Thomson Reuters/Aspatore. Her articles and chapters have also been published in The Visa Processing Guide and Consular Posts Handbook, 2007 - 2010 eds., Inside the Minds: New Developments in Immigration Enforcement and Compliance, and Navigating the Fundamentals of Immigration Law, 2013-14 ed.

After graduating from the University of Oregon School of Law, Lisa was an Attorney Advisor for seven immigration judges at the Executive Office for Immigration Review, a position she entered through the U.S. Attorney General's Honors Program. Prior to entering private practice, she also was a law clerk for the Honorable Robert H. Whaley at the U.S. District Court of Eastern Washington and a Trial Attorney for the U.S. Federal Defender's Office of Eastern Washington and Idaho where she handled a wide-range of immigration matters.

Lisa is a native of the Seattle area. She lived in Australia and has traveled to 25 countries to date.  Coming from a family interested in travel abroad and hosting international exchange students, practicing immigration law has allowed Lisa to assist clients globally with complex and ever-changing immigration laws.
