Description: This case involved application of the minimum contacts analysis to emails that were transmitted from outside Utah to a Utah residents. Plaintiffs sued Defendant alleging violations of Utah's email statute. The trial court found no personal jurisdiction based on the minimal contacts. The Utah Court of Appeals held that even a single email transmitted into the forum state was sufficient for jurisdiction. The Utah Supreme Court reversed, finding that the assertion of jurisdiction was not appropriate.
