Allyn has practiced law since 1969 after graduating from University of Oregon Law School. He was a former Yamhill County Deputy District Attorney. Later, he started his own practice in 1970 and founded the law firm known as Brown, Tarlow, Bridges & Palmer, PC.
In his professional career, Allyn was appointed by the Oregon Supreme Court as Substitute Circuit Court Judge for Polk, Linn, Benton, Marion and Clackamas counties. He was also a former Municipal Court Judge. In addition, Allyn was a former Twelfth Judicial District Bar Association President, Yamhill County Bar Association President, a member of the Oregon State Bar Estate Planning and Administration Section Executive Committee and a member of the Oregon State Bar Elder Law Section Executive Committee.
