  • Conry v. Yoshihara

    Practice Area:
    Family
    Date:
    Dec 03, 2010
    Outcome:
    Won at trial
    Description:
I represented the Respondent in this case. This was a FAPA (restraining order) issue. My client's wife had moved out and taken the kids with her while he was in Japan. When he returned, she hit him with a restraining order, claiming abuse. We contested the order, and after a hearing, the judge ruled in our favor and dismissed the order. My client was able to see his kids freely again, and his record is clean.
  • State v. E.G.

    Practice Area:
    Criminal Defense
    Date:
    Aug 16, 2010
    Outcome:
    Dismissed before indictment
    Description:
I represented this single mother in a theft case. The police had charged her with Theft I, a felony. After speaking to her, I spoke to the alleged victim, a business. The business told me that the police didn't know the whole story, and I was able to obtain statements from several people there, exonerating my client. I worked quickly to get this evidence to the District Attorney's Office before they made their final charging decision, and no charges were filed against my client. So her record is clean and doesn't even show that a charge was filed against her in court.
  • State v. R.K.

    Practice Area:
    Criminal Defense
    Date:
    Sep 24, 2010
    Outcome:
    Reduced to violation
    Description:
This case is actually one of the ones mentioned in the client review section. My client's former lawyer left him high and dry, and when he was re-arrested, he came to me. I used my knowledge of the DA's office to secure him what he felt was an excellent deal - the Class A Misdemeanor he was facing (Hit and Run) was reduced to a traffic ticket. His license was not suspended, he did not have to go on probation, and he paid only a small fine.
  • Fox v. Esperum

    Practice Area:
    Child Custody
    Date:
    Jan 14, 2011
    Outcome:
    Won at trial
    Description:
I represented the father in this case. The mother tried to drastically reduce his parenting time from 50% to less than 20%. We went to trial, and father was given his full 50%. This substantially reduced his child support payments and ensured that he would be a part of his daughter's life.
  • State v. D.B.

    Practice Area:
    Criminal Defense
    Outcome:
    Not guilty after trial
    Description:
A young man was accused of sexual misconduct involving a little girl. Accusations like this can be life-changing. He maintained his innocence throughout, and after a trial, a jury cleared him of all charges. This case was covered in The Oregonian.
  • State v. HK

    Practice Area:
    DUI & DWI
    Date:
    Jan 26, 2012
    Outcome:
    Not Guilty after jury trial
    Description:
Client was charged with DUII, 2 counts of Reckless Endangerment and Failure to Present a License. Client blew a .06, and the prosecution alleged that client mixed alcohol with marijuana. 2 police officers testified that client was "clearly" under the influence. At trial, the officers' inconsistent statements and incomplete investigation were brought to light, and the jury found client Not Guilty of all charges.
  • State vs. W.S.

    Practice Area:
    Criminal Defense
    Date:
    Apr 05, 2012
    Outcome:
    Not Guilty after jury trial
    Description:
This client was charged with multiple felony theft counts. The state had video and audio evidence against him. We took the case to trial, and through careful preparation, uncovered key evidence that undermined the state's position and witnesses, leading to Not Guilty verdicts on all counts.
  • State v. J.B.

    Practice Area:
    Domestic Violence
    Date:
    Apr 10, 2012
    Outcome:
    Not Guilty after jury trial.
    Description:
J.B. was charged with several domestic violence crimes. Even though the state's evidence was flimsy, prosecution continued. We took this case to trial, and demonstrated that the state's theory of the alleged crime was not possible. The jury came back with a very quick Not Guilty verdict on all counts.
  • State v. T.M.

    Practice Area:
    Domestic Violence
    Date:
    May 22, 2012
    Outcome:
    Not guilty after jury trial
    Description:
This client was charged with pushing his wife into a wall. Despite the wife's protests to police and the prosecution, the case went forward. This client elected to go to trial, rather than take a deal that would have required an extensive no-contact order between him and his wife. The jury found him not guilty of any crime against her, and they walked out of the courtroom together.
  • State v. J.J.

    Practice Area:
    Criminal Defense
    Date:
    Jun 05, 2012
    Outcome:
    Measure 11 charges dismissed
    Description:
This client was charged with a serious Measure 11 crime, resulting from a gang incident. We relentlessly fought to convince the state that they had no case against my client. In the end, the serious charges were dismissed, and my client was sentenced to probation and time served on much lesser charges.
