    As an owner of an automobile you are only liable for the amount equal to a minimum limits insurance policy in California. Therefore, since you have an insurance policy, and since they will pay out the minimum limits, you have no additional exposure in that regard. However, with respect to an excess judgment against your wife, you will need to consult with a family law attorney as to whether or not you hold community property with your wife that could be reached in an excess judgment against her....

    Very often the insurance company is just testing you with their opening position. Try negotiating this on your own based upon the facts and based upon your ability or inability to pay any judgment. Good Luck

    Yes, your mother does have a case for damages. These cases are covered under a California statute called MICRA. The pharmacy was clearly negligent and she was clearly harmed. I suggest you contact a local attorney specialized in medical malpractice cases (In California the same set of rules govern pharmacy malpractice and medical malpractice. Good Luck

    I think your best approach would be to hire a qualified personal injury attorney for the recent accident and then let that attorney advise you as to how to approach the 2006 accident. Good Luck

    Hopefully you have automobile insurance. If you do they will appoint a lawyer to represent you at no charge to you. They will also pay any judgment against you up to the amount of your insurance. Hopefully you don't have anything to worry about, unless the value of the case is greater than the amount of your insurance. Even in that situation, the other party might just agree to settle for the amount of the insurance. If it goes beyond that, you can always hire an asset protection lawyer at that...
