Case Conclusion Date:December 1, 2009
Practice Area:Chapter 7 Bankruptcy
Description:Client was a single parent whose financial obligations included supporting two minor children and an elderly parent. A wage garnishment was scheduled to commence four days after client’s initial contact with our law firm. The wage garnishment would have prevented client from meeting required expenses for utilities and food. We filed an emergency petition for chapter 7 relief the same day as the client interview. We were successful in stopping the wage garnishment. By discharging the judgment and other consumer debts, client was able to stabilize his finances and eliminate creditor harassment.
