I work in California. My employer made me sign an employment contract that states I must work for them for 18 mo. Is this legal?

Legal Issues: 1) Contract for repayment of training already provided enforceable? and 2) 18 months term enforceable? Your training was actually under one contract, even if not written, and was simply that your would be trained in exchange for providing your services in which the training would benefit the employer.
