I hired him to get me signed to a major record label because he said that he could and he has several contacts. there was so many red flags on him and unfortunately, I ignored them all trying to be friendly and professional. It was a several hundred dollar lesson. DO NOT HIRE IGBO OBIOHA!!
Mr. Obioha is an outstanding and meticulous attorney. He knows the law and has excellent credentials and experience. I have worked exclusively with Mr. Obioha the last 4 years on multiple contract negotiations that he handled for me as my entertainment attorney. I have also recommended him to other professional colleagues who are extremely satisfied with his work ethic and ability to negotiate and draft agreements on their behalf. In essence, Mr. Obioha has exceeded my expectations and those of my colleagues. I recommend him without hesitation.
I hired entertainment lawyer Igbo Obioha over 5 years ago the first time and have since done repeatedly good business with Igbo Obioha. He saved a delicate situation through good negotiations and resolved one matter successfully. Igbo has definitely good experience in the entertainment world, his strong suits are contract creation and negotiations. I would definitely hire Igbo Obioha again and believe that any film or entertainment related issue is in good hands when handed over to Mr. Igbo Obioha.
Every headache that came from making my film came from Mr Obioha. A smooth talker who connected us to even smoother talking co-producers who made things more complicated. From unreturned emails and phone calls to empty promises of investors, I have no regrets about firing him when we wrapped. Soon I will be editing my film and on the road to a distributor- happy in the knowledge that I did the right thing and nipped him in the bud.
He got me out of a messed up contract I had with a manager who claimed he wasn't going to let me go. He did it in one shot. one letter. He's confident and get's the job done
I will start by simply saying please do your homework first, I didn't sufficiently do mine, became a client and had to dearly pay for that mistake. I guess I wanted the dream of my project so bad that I was temporarily blinded. What was my dream passion project with years of preparation and many favors from noted industry talent that believed (which as you know can make or break a project) were all left un-repaid and disbelieving in my telling them there was no return on all of our efforts. His involvement directly caused the loss of my major Executive Producer who had already green lit two of my other subsequent projects. (need I say that went to trash) after personally borrowing money from our principle investor Mr Obioha had to be successfully sued for repayment and subsequently malpractice. (LA Superior Court case# 09M10148 Filed Stanley Mosk Courthouse)
Okay now so it doesn't seem like I'm just attacking this guy vs. helping you with an honest review, let me just share the following good questions to ask during any chance business with Mr. Obioha.:
1) Were you ever sued by any Client/Film Investor due to non repayment of borrowed funds? Why? Did you win or lose the case?
2) Were you ever sued by any Client/Film Investor for malpractice? Why? Did you win, lose or monetarily settle the case?
Please learn from our mistake of dealing with this guy and do your homework. With all the efforts to get our entire project made, in the can and distributed, it returned us nothing, not one nickel, but Mr. Obioha was paid from each party involved. Well that was a few projects ago and a expensive lesson, so when I came across this request for review my first thought was to be fair and possibly help someone else from stepping in the same mess that we did. Hey guys, this business is tough enough without people out there ruining your dreams and relationships. Well.....There you have it. I hope this will help you.
