also known as Jim Chalat
Thank you for visiting my AVVO page.
I have been practicing law in Colorado for 33 years. I have tried cases in state courts across this great state, including from Cheyenne Wells to Grand Junction and from Fort Collins to Pueblo. My clients have included the entire range of our diverse society: from Toby DeHerrera, a profoundly disabled son of Hispanic American farm laborers, Olympic Athletes, urban office workers, physicians, and the most elite Aspen socialite and business people.
My AVVO page client reviews are representative of the way in which i would handle your case.
I was born in California, raised in Detroit, educated at the University of Michigan and at the University of Denver College of Law.
That the practice of law demands service to our community, is a standard taken seriously by myself and my family. I have held numerous posiitions in the volunteer community, my faith community, and in various legal professional organizations. I regularly volunteer for the state bar association's high school mock trial program; this commitment, alone, demands a minimum of five hours a week from October through February and a full week for competition in February and March.
My seniority carries with it a mentoring obligation. Within the past month, my teaching obligations have ranged from a presentation to a local high school to a full blown lecture at the Harvard Law School.
I would appreciate the opportunity to discuss your case.

I endorse this Jim Chalat. Jim is a knowledgeable and passionate advocate for his clients. He brings confidence and experience to bear on all his cases. He is admired and well-known in the courts in which he practices, especially the Federal District Court for the District of Colorado. I know personally that the Board of the Faculty of Federal Advocates considered making bylaws amendments to allow Jim to continue his invaluable service to the Board. I consider Jim an outstanding attorney, a gentleman, a friend and a mentor. He is my go-to contact and referral for complex civil litigation on behalf of injured plaintiffs.
