It's important for you to contact an attorney - there are times you can handle claims on your own, but honestly, the adjuster will just try to give you as little money as possible. Given you had to go the ER and you are still suffering from migraines, it will be important for you to get checked out by doctors and treated. We can help you by dealing with the insurance company while your job will be to get better. If you want an entire Legal Team assisting you, call us at 210-224-2200.

It's a shame that your act of kindness was responded to in this way -- at this point, I would ask for a release before you submit anything back. If he gave you his attorney's number, I would have an attorney contact him and arrange the return and release from any potential liability, though I cannot foresee what that may be. If you do it on your own, you run the risk of the attorney not being fair - he or she should be, but sometimes, attorneys take advantage of people who are not being represented. Talk to an attorney, you should be able to find one that will give you a free consultation so you can discuss the pros and cons.

You do have an opportunity for a favorable plea, but those are always received better from attorneys - if you can't afford one, seek a public defender.

  • If I have a warrant in another city and I receive a subpoena for appearance of witness can they detain me or arrest me?

I failed to start community service hours on a domestic violence situation from years ago. I got detained a year ago and did a month in jail and was told by the judge i had to finish my anger management classes which I did, but never signed up for...

    Isabel’s Answer

Do not ignore the subpoena, that will only aggravate the situation. There is now way to know if there is a warrant out - but you should check. It's sounds counter intuitive, but it's better for YOU to check and get it resolved than to be surprised by getting arrested. Consult with a local criminal attorney in your area, you should be able to find many who won't charge for the initial consultation.

I would contact the police and inquire - you will likely be able to pay a fine and lift the warrant if the judge knows you instigated the contact, instead of waiting for sweeps - which is when the police pick up everyone with a warrant.

  • After 2 years of my lawyer doing nothing except file an extention on my car accident, can I get new lawyer? How do I know if he

has done anything on my case, only contacts me through the mail. He has made a court hearing for me this month without any prior notice. He doesn't answer calls. Has been no help or anything since sending me to doctors, 1 1/2 yrs. ago.

    Isabel’s Answer

You have every right to be informed about your case by your attorney. You have a right to be told the status of your case, any offers being made, any upcoming deadlines or hearings, and other information. It is crucial for an attorney to communicate closely with their clients. If you do not feel that your attorney is listening to you, you should confront them and demand a response. If you are not comfortable with your attorney, you have every right to terminate their contract and hire an attorney who will help you, listen to you and respond to you.
