Was there a section on the application that all information you provided was true "under penalty of perjury?" If your statement about losing your passport was not true and the recruiter found out somehow that could be used as a reason to terminate employment. I don't know how the recruiter could find that information.

You might want to check your credit reports to see if there someone else using your Social Security number or other Id such as your passport.

Assuming you were working without a formal written contract, you don't have a claim. Texas is an employment at will state meaning employer or employee can end the work relationship at any time for any reason or no reason as long as there is no legally prohibited discrimination based on age, sex, race, et cetera.

If this your homestead, the judgment holder must give you a partial release of lien if you are trying to sell your home and you can't be forced to pay the judgment from the sales proceeds of that home. • How long after foreclosure starts do I have to leave my home?

Paid on house 12 years.Behind 6 mos on payments.Once foreclosure starts its normally 60 days till i have to leave house.I hear the Harris County courts are backed up and wondering how much time I may have till having to evacuate? I would also like...

    Lu Ann’s Answer

After foreclosure, the new owner must give you a written notice to vacate within 3 days of the notice. If you can go in the time then do so. Most people can't move that quickly. The landlord will have to file forcible detainer action (eviction) in the justice of the peace court and get you served. In Houston, the hearing on the eviction will be held exactly 7 days after you were served. The court will issue a writ of possession to the landlord setting a date for the sheriff to come and remove you from the property. From notice to vacate to the sheriff's visit can take 60 days or more.

  • With a homestead in Texas, can they file a lien and what does the homestead do to protect me?

I currently have a homestead on my property in Ellis county Texas. My soon to be ex-mother-in-law is threatening to file a lien and prevent me from refinancing the property which would allow me to buy my soon to be ex-wife out of the home.

    Lu Ann’s Answer

The lien is filed to give notice to the world that you owe a judgment. It is not specifically meant to attach to your homestead. The judgment creditor cannot force the sale of your homestead and cannot prevent you from selling it and cannot demand to be paid from the profit derived from the sale if you put the money into your next homestead.
