Salim E. Awad is an attorney at Coulter Lambson and concentrates his practice in the areas of family law & litigation. Mr. Awad received his Juris Doctorate from St. Louis University School of Law and holds a Bachelors of Arts in Intelligence Studies & Analysis from the American Military University. He is licensed to practice law in Missouri, Illinois, and The United States District Courts for the Eastern and Western Districts of Missouri.
Mr. Awad was designated as a Rising Star in the 2015 edition of Missouri & Kansas Super Lawyers magazine, as one of the top attorneys in the state, a designation attributed to only 5 percent of lawyers in Missouri based on criteria in its survey. The St. Louis Business Journal recognized him in 2013 as a "Forty under 40.” He has also been selected as part of the Regional Business Council’s Leadership 100 group since 2011.
Mr. Awad has received multiple awards for excellence in service and leadership in the United States Army and the private sector. He is a member of the American Bar Association, the Missouri Bar Association, the Illinois State Bar Association, the Bar Association of Metropolitan St. Louis, and is a founding member-at-large of the Hispanic Bar Association of St. Louis.
Before attending law school, Mr. Awad served as a Deep Sea Diver in the United States Army, deploying in support of the Global War on Terrorism as part of Operations Enduring Freedom, Iraqi Freedom, and multiple other missions worldwide.
In addition to his legal practice, he devotes substantial time and energy to charitable organizations throughout the St. Louis community. He serves as the chairman on the board of directors of the Veterans Business Resource Center (VBRC), selected as the National Veterans’ Business Center of the Year for 2015 by the U.S. Small Business Administration. The VBRC helps veterans and their families develop their entrepreneurial and small business goals in the four-state Region VII SBA states of Missouri, Iowa, Nebraska and Kansas and celebrated its 10th anniversary in June 2014. He is also a member of St. Louis Mosaic Project Immigrant Entrepreneur Advisory Board, launched in 2012 in response to an economic impact report, outlining St. Louis to be lagging in immigrant growth as well as highlighting the economic benefits of increasing its foreign-born population. The Mosaic Project is a regional initiative that is professionally managed by St. Louis Economic Development Partnership, World Trade Center St. Louis and a 22-member committee.
Mr. Awad is also a frequent lecturer in a wide variety of legal and business topics. His exceptional commitment to pro bono service was recognized in 2011 by his inclusion as a Member of the Missouri Bar Pro Bono Wall of Fame. Mr. Awad was born and raised in Colombia, South America, and is fluent in Spanish.
He lives with his wife and enjoys travel, staying active and practicing endurance and adventure Sports. His legal knowledge and experience, background as a Military Veteran and his domain of Spanish give Salim the skills to create valuable and professional relationships with clients during times that can be stressful and challenging to manage.
