The first thing you should consider is if you agravated your injury. If it was agravated at work you have another work comp case. Everytime you Hirt your back at work you have a new case. If you did not hurt it at work again then short term disability is an option.

Great question. Sometimes you are better off with a lump sum and sometimes you are better of with weekly payments. Under the law you are only owed weekly benefits in a work comp case but when there is a settlement there is usually a lump sum payout and closure of open medical.

It is important to contact an attorney experienced in mortgage fraud or foreclosure defense in a timely fashion.
You should go over your questions with your lawyer. Some folks can get weekly payments for their entire life. Your lawyer should be able to explain if you fall into that category.
Whenever something is left inside someone after a survey by accident and needs to be removed it is generally medical malpractice. When it takes years to discover such negligence then there may be affirmative defenses such as the statute of limitations.
