My practice focuses on Franchise and Distribution Law and Litigation. I represent franchisors, the companies that develop and sell franchise concepts, as well as franchisees, the unit level owners, in all aspects of franchising.
I guide my clients through substantial business transactions, provide practical business advice and counsel on the technical aspects of the law. I also represent clients in complex commercial litigation involving issues of business law, trade secrets, trade regulation, intellectual property and contract disputes.
I am licensed to practice in Tennessee and Louisiana. I am an active member of both the Tennessee Bar Association and the Louisiana State Bar Association. I also am actively involved in the American Bar Association's Forum on Franchising and the Section of Litigation. I am a regular contributor to the Louisiana Bar Journal and to American Bar Association publications. I am respected by my peers for the thoroughness and quality of my work, frequently working on referral and as local counsel for out of state attorneys.
I represent businesses in complex commercial litigation, which often include issues involving trade secrets, confidentiality, non-competition, trademark infringement and breach of contract.
In health care matters, I represent physicians exclusively.

Hired to take on a franchisor, Roland came to depositions unprepared, caved in to adversary over and over again. Charged $270.00 an hour (trial attorney rate) yet we seldom saw the inside of a courtroom. I spent over 100K and 4 years and LOST on a case that was supposed to cost 40K and take 1 year. I...
This review does not describe any case in which my firm and I have been involved. The only case in which we were involved for four years was a non-franchise case where the representation was on a contingency basis, not hourly. That was during 2007-2012. It settled. The only other long-running case was one that was waiting for a ruling from the judge (and had been for 18 months) when the sole owner of the company, who also was a guarantor, filed for bankruptcy. The bankruptcy caused the case to be stayed but remains pending subject to resolution of issues in that bankruptcy. We "over-prepare" for depositions, which really is the appropriate amount of preparation. We suspect that this review is from a competitor or an individual who is a defendant in one of the cases where we are seeking an injunction. Pathetic.

I used Roland for a business litigation case and found him to be very knowledgeable and thorough. He kept meticulous records for my file and was able to demonstrate to the Judge all of his efforts of getting the case moving and keeping it going. I now send him to my family and would use him again i...
"Roland has extensive experience representing clients in a variety of franchise related matters. I highly recommend him to franchisors or franchisees seeking superior legal counsel for all of their transactional, regulatory and litigation matters."
