Practice Area: Child Custody
Outcome: Prevented the loss of parental rights.
Description: This matter involved the parental rights of a Nashville country music star and her young child. Over the course of three days of trial, the matter involved the likes of Court TV, Nancy Grace, together with a myriad of reporters - both television and media. It was trying on the attorneys to prevent a three ring circus from occurring at the trial. At issue, as well, was the matter was being filmed by a private film crew for her own documentary to be released on network television. Through strong cross-examination of the State's witnesses, the defense was able to show that there was no link between the allegations of child abuse raised at trial and the parenting skills of the client/defendant. In addition, it was established that the States claims of violence and poor parenting were simply unfounded. The end result was maintaining a relationship between the parent and child in the matter and the hope for an eventual reunification between them.
