You still owe the money to the hospital. If you have the means, you should consult an attorney who may help you negotiate an early resolution, perhaps a payment plan. If you don't have much money, the hospital may be open to the idea of accepting some sort of partial payment as full and final satisfaction of your debt because they know that a judgment against someone with no assets is essentially worthless.
