It's impossible to get a question answered without scheduling an appointment. She wants a huge retainer fee, even if your case is simple and quick and doesn't involve going to court. Forget about getting the remainder of your money back. Oh, and if you ask for an itemized statement, forget that too. Apparently, she doesn't feel it's necessary to let her clients know how much she's over-charging them. I guess it wouldn't sting 'as much' if she actually fought for me, instead of making the situation worse. Since then, I've consulted with other attorneys about my case and they have all said that she settled with the other side and convinced me that I had no other option. She only worked a few hours on my case and expects to keep the entire
5 thousand dollar retainer. For a year now I've been trying patiently to get a financial statement. When I mentioned filing a complaint with the state bar, her paralegal must have thought I was joking because she was laughing as she responded with, "That's fine, you go right ahead." Hopefully this review will help other people in need of an attorney. There are professional lawyers out there who fight for their clients, and give itemized monthly statements.
