Biography
I serve as General Counsel for the Georgia Department of Public Health, advising the Commissioner of Public Health and overseeing the in-house legal staff of the Department. Our agency supervises over 5,500 public health employees statewide, administers a $667 million budget, regulates ambulance services and emergency medical technicians, the Georgia WIC program, disease surveillance, emergency preparedness and bioterrorism response, and retail public health services.
From 2000 to 2011, I served as Senior Assistant Attorney General and Section Chief of the Consumer Interests Section of the Georgia Department of Law. Prior to that time, I was in private practice, specializing in the litigation, arbitration and mediation of construction and commercial disputes, and serving as an arbitrator and mediator for numerous alternative dispute resolution organizations.
