As per his will, my father's second wife is sole benificiary of his estate. She can dispose of his belongings as she sees fit.

Unfortunately this is not unusual. As an Interested Person in the Estate, you have the right to make sure an Estate is opened and to see the Will....

While you cannot "lock" anything unilaterally, letting his bank, credit card company, etc., know that he has died means it is less likely anyone...
