I hired Attorney Papa in 2003 to get custody of my son from his mother who is and was a drug addict. To get custody of a child almost never happened back then unless it is something critical. (about 10 years ago), also a lot is who you know. The courts didn’t think overdosing, being life flighted, never being around, always leaving him with her mother or me was critical to his upbringing. Attorney Papa filed for Custody. We had conferences, court dates, motions, contempts, delays and postponements, by both parties, with all evidence and testimony presented by Attorney Papa. Anyone who thinks the process is cut and dry does not know how the court system works and won’t until you’re involved in it. A lawyer can only do so much and the rest is up to, “the Judge or the Master.” It took almost 6 years for them to realize what the “best interest” for my son was and I got custody. He is a straight A student, plays sports and is a well-adjusted boy. It’s easy to blame the attorney when things don’t go right and they rule against you.
After reading some negative posts on here about Attorney Papa, I had to post something because it’s easy to blame the attorney or say you got ripped you off or overcharged. I checked around and prices varied, you get what you pay for, I knew up front what I was paying for and what he was going to do for me. I would definitely recommend Attorney Papa to anyone who asks or needs an attorney, and I would hire him again if I’d ever need one.

Attorney Angelo A Papa Jr represented the residents of a local mobile home park and protected their basic rights to the use of water. Attorney Papa did this without taking any money from any of the residents who resided in the mobile home park. Government agencies who fined this landlord (slumlord) did not carry through and did not protect the tenants and their rights. This Landlord rationed the water, shut it off on weekends, holidays, and when children were off from school so water could not be used and did this without any prior notification to the tenants. When questioned, the Landlord stated that water was a privilege not a right. Water, sewage and garbage were all included in the monthly lot rent. The lease did not say anything about water being a privilege. If the Landlord did not like you, he would knock on the door and give you five minutes to pack up and get out. Then he would sell or rent your home. Nobody could stop him until Attorney Papa took the case. Attorney Papa represented any tenant in the mobile home park that accept his help, current and those who had been harmed by this Landlord and lost their home, many who were homeless. Attorney Papa stayed with us through the local, state and federal bankruptcy court never charging a dime for his time. At one point, Attorney Papa was called late at night and advised that we were a target to have our home destroyed . . . the Landlord had hired people to harm us and to burn us out . . .Attorney Papa made sure we were safe and involved the proper authorities to make sure not only my family was safe . . .but the other families in the mobile home park would be safe as well. The Government agencies that could have put a stop to this Landlord did nothing . . . Attorney Papa took time from his family and thriving practice and risked it all . . . to make sure that my family and all the families in this mobile home park were safe and treated decently. As a result of Attorney Papa's representation, the mobile home park was taken from this Landlord (subsequently this slumlord has lost other properties in which he was doing similar injustices), the property has ample clean water, new roads, new lots, and has more units. The mobile home park is doing well and is a beautiful park. This would have never happened without Attorney Angelo Papa.
Attorney Papa never gave up. When the Landlord saw that things weren't going well for him locally, he (the Landlord) tried to go Federal. Attorney Papa never gave up and kept encouraging the rest of us to keep fighting and moving forward. . .even though he wasn't getting paid and had a thriving practice. Attorney Papa did what Government agencies should have done, protected the tenants rights and locked up the Landlord. Eventually, this Slumlord lost this property and other properties and was prevented from hurting other people.

I just wanted to take a moment to express my gratitude to your firm! I find it compelling to write and thank you because I’ve never heard of an Attorney working on a case on a Sunday, none the less to return my phone calls on a Sunday as well. Your compassion and enthusiasm in what you do to help people with criminal defendants and people with addictions is second to none! And you going above and beyond to the extent of even giving up your family time on a Sunday to work on this case for ___________restores my hope in the good of mankind! You’re a class act Angelo and I will do all I can to refer people to you that are in the need. I only hope that taking this case to the VA Supreme Court will open some eyes here in VA and open the door for more people and families that are struggling with addictions. God Bless you and your family Angelo and I’m sure God will reward you tenfold for all your work.

My mom hired Angelo to help me deal with a couple burglary charges about ten years ago when I was a twenty-two year old kid. Put $5000.00 down for an "umbella of protection" and i was supposed to be fine until court. I get arrested a week later after a traffic stop. Sat in jail for four days couldn't get ahold of him he was on vacation had to use a public defender. All because he didn't call one of the cities that one of the two charges were in. Puts me in this horrible beta version of what he called a drug program. What a joke. We spent thousands more for me to be a pawn in his rehab experiment. Horrible experience dealing with him. Car-salesman dressed as a lawyer. Avoid at all costs!!

First of all, this guy is brilliant. And that means he is extremely busy and in great demand. He also has a tremendous program to keep seriously charged individuals out of harms way. This guy has more experience than many legal teams combined. If you are serious about your legal interests, it comes at a price. When it dawns on you that you should have spent the money, I hope it is not in hindsight from a jail cell. I had two felonies and two misdemeanors and because of his unique program and his smooth polite style and experience, I got what amounted to a parking ticket. Believe me and trust this guy. I spent a long time worrying and worrying and he worked nothing short of a miracle. He is the real deal and I also have a history of lawyers in the family from other jurisdictions

We hired Papa 3 years ago to represent us in our family estate and still is unable to meet the requests our family has made. We have been uninformed, clueless of the status of our case. He has refused to speak with us and will not let us talk,. He rudely cuts us off and does not return calls or emails. Once he received payment he was done working. Do not use this attorney for anything.

Should have done my research first. I am one of many horrible reviews of this attorney. Thousands of dollars spent and he did absolutely nothing to help my case. He is a very good salesman and promises the moon, but once he receives payment, he has no concern for you whatsoever and delivers nothing. If you can actually speak to him, he is very condescending and argumentative... with both clients and court officials which hurt my case substantially. I paid a flat fee that was to cover ALL expenses start to finish and he is now trying to illicit more money for dragging out my case and having me take the plea that was initially offered. He cancelled four appointments with me, had me wait in his office for over three hours for the ones he actually kept and is now threatening to withdraw from my case unless he receives more money. I have heard that there are attorneys this devious and conniving and am kicking myself for falling victim to his sales pitch. Do not EVER hire this one!!

he was to represent me in a divorce case and he said it would be a three to six months process and would be completed.
over five years and more than ten thousand dollars later I think I'm divorced and not sure because of the lack of communication and concern on his part .Once he received his money in full (before the process began). He would not receive my calls or return any of my calls except when it was a matter of asking for money. He did not keep appointments and was very uncooperative.I DON'T RECOMMEND him for anything at all!!!!!!!

Horrible service. Never answered or returned my calls. Didn't even show up for the custody hearing with the master. Hung up on my once in mid sentence. After I paid him he showed no concern for my case at all. At the child support conference he had to be asked who he was representing because he talked to the person I was going against more than me. Horrible. Very bad business.
