About Me

Richard D. Willstatter is an experienced criminal defense lawyer who emphasizes his ability to prepare and research your defense more thoroughly than his adversaries will pursue the prosecution. ---

Richard D. Willstatter has been a criminal defense lawyer for 30 years. He represents individuals who are under investigation by the police and/or federal law enforcement officials and those accused of crimes. Mr. Willstatter also represents people who must appeal a criminal conviction or defend against a government appeal of a defense win in a trial-level court. From time to time, people also retain the Law Office of Green & Willstatter to defend them in a civil action. Mr. Willstatter's legal acumen and ability are his greatest strengths. Yet, his compassion and drive to protect his clients from the tentacles of government are attributes greatly appreciated by those who retain his services.

Mr. Willstatter is the Immediate Past President of the New York State Association of Criminal Defense Lawyer, having served as President in 2012, He is also a member of its Amicus Curiae Committee. He also serves as Second Circuit vice-chair of the Amicus Curiae Committee of the National Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers.

Richard is highly respected within the legal community. His appellate skills are widely recognized and he regularly serves as a resource for other lawyers. He is "a lawyer's lawyer." I have discussed cases with Richard and have always been impressed by his rapid grasp of the facts and the application of nuanced law to the case. I have recommended Richard as an attorney to potential clients and those who have been lucky enough to have been able to hire him have consistently reported that they were extremely satisfied with his work.

I have been fortunate to work with Richard on several cases. Beyond the strong working knowledge of the law for which he is known, Richard brings both insight and candor to the table, which frequently helps clients better identify and appreciate their interests and objectives. Richard is also a wonderful resource -- always willing to assist fellow lawyers and advance the cause of justice.
