John G. Koch is a member of the Environmental Law and Litigation Departments at Flaster/Greenberg.
Mr. Koch concentrates his practice in environmental law, including hazardous waste litigation, government enforcement actions, buying and selling industrial or contaminated property, environmental due diligence and assisting clients in complying with state and federal environmental laws and regulations. A substantial aspect of Mr. Koch’s practice involves insurance coverage litigation on behalf of policyholders seeking insurance for various types of claims, including coverage for remediating contaminated industrial property, general third party liability, business interruption and property claims. Mr. Koch also assists clients with business and shareholder disputes, in addition to commercial litigation.
Mr. Koch is accredited as a LEED® Green Associate by the Green Building Certification Institute, the credentialing organization allied with the U.S. Green Building Council (USGBC), and assists clients with contract negotiations involving LEED projects and buildings. As a member of Flaster/Greenberg’s Alternative and Renewable Energy Group, he also represents clients engaged in or considering business ventures in emerging green energy fields such as solar, wind, geothermal, cogeneration, biofuels and biomass.
Mr. Koch has lectured on issues such as joint and several liability under CERCLA, natural resource damages, regulating nano-technology, brownfield development, renewable energy development and contract indemnity clauses.
Mr. Koch has clerked for the United States Environmental Protection Agency, Office of Regional Counsel, in both Region II (New York, NY) and Region III (Philadelphia, PA). There he assisted Regional Counsel with CERCLA enforcement and litigation. He also clerked for the Pennsylvania Department of Environmental Protection, Office of Chief Counsel, Southeast Region Office.
