You should first think about copyrighting your music. This way you have full ownership to the music and you will have freedom to use it as you wish. You should always protect yourself with an Agreement at every stage of the process. An Agreement can protect your interests in the music. The percentage split is usually agreed upon between the parties, there is not a normal standard.
