Biography
I joined Krokidas & Bluestein in 1985, and I concentrate my practice in the areas of health care, non-profit, administrative and corporate law.
I represent teaching and community hospitals, long term care hospitals and skilled nursing facilities, community health centers, behavioral health providers, hospices and visiting nurse associations, assisted living residences, senior living communities, community-based human service organizations, private special education school, physicians and allied health professionals in matters involving transactions (mergers, acquisitions, affiliations), corporate governance, contracts, legislative and regulatory matters, reimbursement and tax-exempt financing.
My practice includes writing and lectures for government, professional and trade organizations, including Massachusetts Office of Attorney General, Public Charities Division, Massachusetts League of Community Health Centers, Massachusetts Continuing Legal Education, Boston Bar Association, Massachusetts Bar Association, and Massachusetts Senior Care Association on topics such as long-term and post-acute care, assisted living, nursing home transactions, payment and reimbursement, intermediate sanctions and non-profit governance issues.
I'm an active community participant, serving on the boards of several non-profit and community institutions, including Marian Manor (receiving the Magnificat Award in 2004), St. Patrick's Manor, Carmel Terrace, and S Bank. In the past I have served as a member of the Quincy Medical Center, the St. Coletta and Cardinal Cushing Centers, DOVE, Inc. (Domestic Violence Ended), Very Special Arts of Massachusetts, and Quincy Youth Baseball Board of Directors.
Before joining Krokidas & Bluestein, I held several positions in Massachusetts state government. My last position was as Chairman of the Massachusetts Rate Setting Commission.
