How do I add a badge to my website?
Sign in to your Avvo account, go to your dashboard, and click "Add an Avvo Badge" under "Add to your website." You'll see which badges you've qualified for. Then just copy the embed code and paste it into your website's HTML wherever you'd like it to appear. Live badges (Rating and Reviews) update automatically after that.
Tip: If your website platform restricts JavaScript (like WordPress.com hosted sites), or if you want more control over how the badge links, you can use a static image of your badge linked directly to your individual Avvo profile URL instead.
Where does the badge link take my website visitors?
Clicking a badge takes visitors to your full Avvo profile, where they can view your credentials, read client reviews, and contact you directly.
Note that from the link, visitors can browse the broader Avvo directory. If you prefer to link visitors directly and only to your profile page, use the static screenshot method described above.
Can I buy an Avvo Badge?
No. All four Avvo Badges are free and based on your profile, activity, and client feedback. The Rating Badge is algorithm-driven. The Clients' Choice and Top Contributor awards have specific annual thresholds. None can be purchased, and Avvo advertising has no effect on any badge.
Do the Clients' Choice and Top Contributor badges expire?
Both are awarded on a calendar-year basis. When you earn a new year's badge, you'll want to update the embed code on your website. The Rating and Reviews badges update automatically so they will always reflect your most current standing. If you prefer not to display the live, auto-updating rating and reviews badges, you can use static images instead.
I'm a solo practitioner. Is earning badges realistic?
Yes. All four badges are earned through actions attorneys in any size practice can take: completing your Avvo profile, requesting reviews from satisfied clients, participating in Avvo’s Q&A, and publishing legal guides.
Do I need to worry about advertising rules?
We always recommend checking your state bar's advertising and ethics rules. Requirements vary by jurisdiction, and some states have specific guidelines around displaying numerical ratings or third-party endorsements. When in doubt, consult your bar association or a legal ethics advisor.
Can I display badges on social media, emails, or printed materials?
Once earned, your badge is yours to use on any website, blog, email signature, or marketing materials.
Are there other badges I might see on my profile?
