Hard to give you a really good answer to your concerns. Most of what likely happens is they view your past as a determinate of how you will do in the future. A good lawyer can help by being an advocate for how things have changed and to point out how their decisions have hurt the kids. The true test is what is in the best interest of the children.

Most lawyers will give you a free consultation if you ask for one. We do this all the time, but remember that our time is valuable and you should stay with the people who help you the most. All responses are just general legal advice & they do not establish an Attorney-Client Relationship, & may not apply to your particular situation.
