Need advice on reckless driving + 72 in a 35 (Flagstaff, AZ)
Hi, I received two criminal traffic citations in Flagstaff, AZ: one for reckless driving and one for speeding (72 in a 35). I’m not familiar with the area, and the speed limit dropped from 65 to 35 very suddenly when entering the town. I was already slowing down but didn’t notice the new sign in time.
For the reckless driving charge, the situation was confusing. I was behind a white car, and another driver was approaching quickly from behind. I couldn’t change lanes safely. There was an undercover officer between the roads. The fast driver behind me slowed suddenly and exited when he saw the officer, but the officer focused on me instead and pulled me over.
I have no criminal history, and there was no accident or property damage.
I want to know:
1. What penalties am I realistically facing?
2. Is there a chance to reduce charges?
3. How much do Arizona traffic attorneys typically charge for this kind of case?
4. Should I try for defensive driving school or a plea to a civil violation?
Any help or guidance is appreciated. Thank you.
Best advice I can give you is to get a free consultation. A lot of answers to your questions can be provided more easily through a phone call. However, reckless driving is a class 2 misdemeanor with 8 points attached and criminal speed is a class 3 misdemeanor with 3 points attached.
