My HOA requested that I remove my camera in my condo window that’s pointing on my car in my assigned parking space below?
My Homeowner Association is requesting that I remove my security cameras (but even the one that is inside my condo & pointing on my car in the parking space below) despite the bylaws at time of purchase (Oct 2023) not stating anything about owning cameras. New rules & regulations were distributed in June 2024 stating that “security cameras of any kind must be reviewed and approved by the Board of Directors prior to installation.” These new rules have not been signed by myself as the signature page says “all new residents” and I was not new since my purchase pre-dated the new rules.
So now you know one of the reasons that I tell all clients, prospective clients and anyone else who asks, to NEVER purchase any property that has an HOA, condo or coop board. There are more reasons for my answer than I can write in here. Suffice it to say that a strongly worded letter from an experience civil litigation may resolve this matter. Engaging in civil litigation is not going to be cost-effective. In determining your choice of an attorney, there are many factors to consider, including but not limited to and you should look at how the attorney is ranked on AVVO all-time nationwide. You should also consider the attorney's reviews. Pick the best attorney you can find and remember one rule: a good attorney is generally never cheap, and a cheap attorney is generally never good so don't choose based on price. With modern technology, you can be represented by any high-quality attorney in New Jersey irrespective of geography.
