Food stamps EBT after divorce in florida
After a divorce who (if they qualify) gets the food stamps? I am currently on them as I raise my kids and my spouse is somewhere roaming the country but I assume if I find her and get her served etc she will answer or come back to stay in the home in which she part owns with her mother. I would move out with my kids, if I am allowed to either before or after I served her depending on what my future Divorce Attorney advises but when it comes to food stamps who gets them. is it the parent with majority time sharing and IF so what about if she winds up getting fifty fifty time sharing? I see nothing on the dcf site so I hoped a divorce attorney could assist on here. Could it also be who ever signs up first? Any help?
Food Stamps are based on income, assets, and household size. The children cannot be on two cases at the same time. It will be based on the entire living and eating arrangements. This will be thoroughly worked through by your eligibility worker. I personally don't see how a divorce us going to change get or your current living arrangements...

You apply for food stamps and whoever qualifies will get them. You both may qualify or neither of you may qualify depending on your circumstances at the time. You are supposed to keep the government informed if your situation changes. You do not want to get food stamps for the children if they move out. You could quality on your own but that cannot be determined from your information.

I was more curious if lets say I had majority time sharing - I would apply, if I get approved then all is well. If its 50/50 is it the same thing? I was not sure if we could both apply and claim the kids as dependents if one had a majority time sharing... Confused but thank you

Color me confused but I do thank you for the reply. I sort of get from this post that since the kids can be claimed only once its possibly the first parent who applies and get approved or the courts will take care of this in the divorce agreement? I know for a fact my spouse will fight EVEN if she gets less time sharing for food stamps so I am a little worried
