Question

Can I as a minor be on the board of directors for a nonprofit I am starting?

I had a parent sign legal documents since underaged people can't sign contracts, but I am unsure how to go about this. How do I go about creating the 501(c)(3) nonprofit overall? Please help!

Yes, you are eligible to serve on the board. However, generally, a minor is not legally competent to sign contracts and may incur other binding obligations. I agree with Ms. Strauss that you would be wise to consult a business lawyer familiar with not-for-profit organizations.

You have a business plan, you have funds, you have budget, you hire a lawyer, then you do everything else.

This is general advice. You are anonymous. If you PM me I won’t know what it’s about. I know no one reads these. I wish they did. VIS A VIS AI--there's nothing inherently wrong with the technology, but it must be used ethically. Some attorneys are using it without any use of their legal expertise.
