VAWA, Travelling internationally?
I was on spousal immigration.I received a SSN and EAD card , had my State ID card made. Then my ex husband withdrew the spousal immigration. I then filed for VAWA, received a prima facie and then received a new EAD card ( as the previous one had expired) and work permit .I am currently working here in USA. Right now my passport is of my native country which has my maiden surname and my documents here in the usa , all have my new surname because when I got married, I changed my surname to my ex husband's name( My SSN, EAD State ID all have the new surname) , so my surnames are different in the passport and the documents here In the Usa . My question is that can I travel internationlly , is it safe for me to travel outside the USA( I plan to get a visit visa to canada and travel there) and do I have to change or update my passport to bear the surname I have on my documents here in the USA.
If you have advance parole, you can travel but I would recommend a new passport to match your current documents. Good luck!

If you leave the US without advance parole, you abandon everything you have pending. It is irrelevant whether you obtain Canadian Visa. Just because you can enter Canada, does not mean you will be able to reenter US. Good luck.

A consultation is recommended with an experienced immigration attorney to go over your case. Generally, travel outside of the US is not recommended however, individuals with advance parole have travelled internationally.

Not advisable to travel outside the USA while still pending VAWA and VAWA-based AOS which is expected to still take years.
