Federal regulation lawyers focus on a particular area of federal government regulation. These lawyers can work for the government itself or work in the private sector helping people interact with the government. Federal regulation lawyers are often former federal agency employees and, like their state, local, and municipal law counterparts, usually know who the best contacts at the federal agencies are, and what approaches will work in negotiating with federal officials.
Government contracts are not the same as private sector contracts. Contracts with the government are subject to mandatory clauses and extensive regulation.
