Zachary Scott Lacy

Zachary Lacy, better known as Zaq, started his own solo practice in Burke, Virginia, in 2021, representing clients in settlement negotiations, uncontested divorces, adult adoption, and estate planning. He joined Magruder Cook in 2022, where he worked on commercial and residential landlord/tenant matters, before returning to his solo practice in 2023 to focus on helping his community's residents navigate the complex legal issues involved in legacy planning, particularly when minor children may inherit. He also is passionate about advising small business owners in a variety of areas, drawing on both his legal knowledge and his personal experience as an entreprenuer to effectively counsel his clients through their legal issues and questions. 

Zaq is a graduate of University of Richmond’s School of Law, where he served as the Executive Editor of the Journal of Law and Technology, participated as a member of the Trial Advocacy Board, and represented clients in the Intellectual Property and Transactional Law Clinic. He previously interned with Legal Services of Northern Virginia in Fairfax, Virginia, and Curwood Law Firm in Richmond, Virginia. He also holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Psychology and a Master’s Degree in Linguistics from George Mason University.

Prior to entering the legal field, Zaq amassed a wealth of experience in Education, entrepreneurship, and customer service as the co-founder and English Specialist of a local tutoring service. His background lends a unique perspective to his client-centered approach to legal practice and drives his passion to make hiring, and working with, an attorney a much more approachable experience for his clients.

In his spare time, Zaq enjoys tennis, lake-side strolls, cooking, and reading next to a crackling fireplace.
