A Students' Lawyer is the student-defense and education-law practice of Zachary Gaynor, Esq.

Most people find me during the worst week of their academic career: a Title IX notice, a dismissal letter, a professionalism referral, an honor code charge, a denied accommodation, or a hold on a degree that was supposed to be conferred in six weeks. Schools run these processes on their own timelines and under their own rules, and students are usually expected to navigate them alone. Education law is not a side service here — it is the entire practice.

What I handle

• Campus discipline and conduct — Title IX, sexual misconduct, hazing, alcohol and drug allegations, and code-of-conduct charges.
• Academic standing — dismissal, suspension, SAP appeals, readmission, grade disputes, admission rescission, and degree revocation.
• Graduate and professional programs — medical, nursing, law, and doctoral matters, clinical failures, and professionalism concerns.
• Student rights and accommodations — Section 504 and ADA accommodations, testing accommodations for the USMLE, MCAT, LSAT, NCLEX, and bar exam, FERPA records access and correction, and due process.
• Litigation and relief — internal appeals, injunctions and emergency relief, breach of contract, and civil rights litigation.

What to expect

I represent clients directly, from the first call to resolution. You get a candid read on where you actually stand before anyone spends money on a strategy that will not work. When the campus process runs out, I litigate — I am currently handling student matters in federal and state court, including a putative class action on behalf of students.

Scope and fees are confirmed in writing before any work begins: flat fees where the work can be scoped, and hourly, hybrid, or contingency arrangements in litigation, with interest-free installments available on larger engagements. I do not offer free consultations. The initial engagement is a full file review and strategy session, and it is credited toward representation.
