Lawyer should know the law

Hired this law firm for my friend for landlord court at Brookhaven NY, when I met with the lawyers and they were talking and promise everything is will going to be good . And said the total including everything is $2500 for the entire case doesn’t matter they need to go to Court for 100 times still ...$2500 . After they got the $2500 and then they asked for another meeting saying need to change more because they not included the court fee and not included the server service fees with all bunch of bullshxx, and they want me to do all the work and they don’t know what the heck they doing. They never said anything about the town Court rules because I think which they don’t know. I have text messages and emails from the law firm to proof of that they don’t know anything about the court rules. And in the complaint you need to include the tenants name and John does and Jane does and which they don’t have, He go to the Brookhaven Court January 28, 2026 9:30sm and the case dismissed because the timeframe was not right! Who wants to hire a lawyer doesn’t know the law???? And I asked him can he refile the case and he asked for another attorney fees another $2500. I said to him it’s that your fault because you don’t know the Court rules? They dined to refile the case. I make a complaint to The New York State Grievance Committee for the Tenth Judicial District at 150 Motor Parkway, Suite 102, Hauppauge, New York 11788 if you are a landlord start a lawsuit to kick your tenants out if your lawyer not included the unknown tenants which is John does and Jane dons then they can have anyone move in after the lawsuit and in the end you have to do it all over again because have a unknowns person still in your house! That’s the lawyer you want to hire????

Avvo Rating

Our Rating is calculated using information the lawyer has included on their profile in addition to the information we collect from state bar associations and other organizations that license legal professionals. Attorneys who claim their profiles and provide Avvo with more information tend to have a higher rating than those who do not.

What determines Avvo Rating?
  • Experience & background Years licensed, work experience, education
  • Legal community recognition Peer endorsements, associations, awards
  • Legal thought leadership Publications, speaking engagements
  • Discipline Disciplinary information may not be comprehensive, or updated. We recommend that you always check a lawyer's disciplinary status with their respective state bar association before hiring them.
