As a Japanese American public defender with Metropolitan Public Defender in Portland, Oregon, I am committed to holding the government accountable for its actions. My passion for defending the accused is deeply rooted in my family history. During World War II, the government incarcerated my ancestors without any due process based solely on their ethnic identity. This injustice inspires me to fight for the rights of those who have been wrongly accused or mistreated by the government.

All of my cases are appointed cases from the court, and I do not take private clients. However, I do offer seminars and talks about culture and DEI issues. I believe in the importance of cultural sensitivity in the legal profession and am available to provide these talks for company gatherings as a part of DEI trainings and other cultural awareness and implicit bias trainings.
